Mark Support worker & music mentor

Meet Mark. He's spent 15+ years supporting people across the disability sector, and somewhere along the way he noticed how much people light up when music gives them a reason to try, talk, focus and have a laugh. This is one-to-one support-worker time with music as the activity: your pace, your favourite songs, your good days and your slower ones. No exams, no pressure, no music-therapy claims. Just a patient support worker, a spare guitar, and a practical way to build confidence through something enjoyable.

The program

Support time, with music as the nudge

These are one-to-one support sessions with Mark, held somewhere comfortable around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. The guitar gives the session a clear, enjoyable focus: learn a chord, choose a song, practise asking questions, stick with a small challenge, or just build the confidence to have a go. The billable support is Mark's support-worker time helping you participate, build skills and stay connected.

What it supports

Plan goals, with a few chords.

  • Confidence through a small challenge

Trying one chord, one rhythm or one song gives you a clear win to build from, without pressure to perform.

  • Support for plan goals

Sessions can support goals like community participation, building confidence, trying new activities, communication and routine.

  • Focus and coordination

Music gives you something practical to focus on, with Mark beside you to break each step down.

  • Connection without awkwardness

A guitar on the table gives the session a natural reason to talk, listen, laugh and build trust.

  • A routine to look forward to

Regular support time can become a positive weekly anchor, especially when the activity feels like yours.

  • Choice and ownership

You choose the songs, the pace and the setting, so the support stays centred on what matters to you.

This one's for you if…

Funding & NDIS

For NDIS participants, Guitar with Mark is offered as support-worker time for creative, social and community participation. It may be suitable where it relates to your disability support needs and plan goals, such as building confidence, trying new activities, communication, routine, social connection or community access. We don't present this as music therapy, and we don't bill NDIS funding for musical instruments, coffee, venue costs, tickets, meals or ordinary hobby costs. We work with plan-managed, self-managed and private-paying participants. Care in Movement is an independent support-worker business and not a registered NDIS provider, so we don't bill the NDIA directly. If you're unsure, check with your plan manager, support coordinator, or just ask us.
